December 6-8: The Bow Valley Baptist Church returns with a time-honoured tradition, their Christmas play. After running the play It’s A Wonderful Life last year, they’re now taking on another Christmas movie classic in Miracle on 34th Street. The performance is open to all members of the community. The Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m., and Sunday’s is at 2 p.m.. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at BowValleyBaptist.com/Events.

December 7: The Boys and Girls Club of Canada host their ‘Breakfast With Santa’ (Mrs. Claus is there too!) at their clubhouse on Fifth Avenue near the Lions Rodeo Grounds. The drop-in breakfast is held from 9-11 a.m.. The full experience is $5 or $20 for a family of five or more. In additional to continental breakfasts and hot beverages, there are also kids holiday crafts, activities, fun tattoos. And the personal visit and photo with Santa or Mrs. Claus, of course.

December 7: Cochranites might have the chance to cross some holiday gift shopping off of their list when the Cochrane Artisan Christmas Market takes over the Lions Event Centre for their annual market. Organizers say the 60 artisans on hand will only be selling 100 per cent hand-crafted wares. Admission to the market is free, and meals will be available for purchase from A La Carte Catering. The market runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m..

December 7: The Parade of Lights returns to the historic downtown. In addition to the convoy of twinkling lights slowly making their way through the closed-off streets, there is also street entertainment, a children’s area, and Christmas shopping opportunities. The free festival will run from 5 p.m. until about 7 p.m.. If any residents are interested in gaining some volunteer experiencing and helping out the community by working at the parade, more information is available at Facebook.com/LightUpCochrane.
