Cochrane Culture Days Are Coming.

Cochrane Integrated Arts Society (CIAS) is partnering with the Town of Cochrane Arts and Culture to organize Cochrane Culture Days Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13. Assisted by an Alberta Culture grant, Cochrane Culture Days will have a number of venues and attractions starting with Movie Day on Friday – matinee and evening shows at the Cochrane Movie House.

On Saturday and Sunday, three outdoor performance stages, “Front Stage” at Centennial Plaza, and “Up Stage”  and “Centre Stage” at Cochrane Town Square will entertain with dancers from Cochrane dance schools and and the Stoney Mini Thni dancers, music by individuals, small instrumental ensembles, and folk, jazz and concert bands. Visual artist demonstrations will be ongoing courtesy of the CIAS Artist Collective. At the Lions Club Event Centre, one can take in a film industry presentation at the “Backstage” and then meander through the Sculpture Garden.

On Saturday, those who like to travel a little further, can use the Artist Studio Drive guide map to tour the various studios around Cochrane where internationally renowned artists will demonstrate their techniques. To top it off, Cruise Cochrane will flaunt their vintage cars as they cruise by all of the Cochrane Culture Days sites.

The event is planned with multiple concurrent attractions so that people can enjoy one and move on to the next without forming large audiences. Volunteers will be on hand at each site to encourage social distancing, ensure boundaries are respected, provide hand sanitizer and clean surfaces as needed.

Cochrane Culture Days is a perfect opportunity for the residents of Cochrane and area, who have lacked so many activities since March, to enjoy a variety of visual and performance arts during this time of social distancing. And it’s all free.
